When you purchase a car insurance policy from us, you have a fourteen-day period during which you can change your mind and withdraw from the contract. This fourteen-day period starts from the date on which your insurance policy commences or the date on which you receive your policy documents, whichever is later. If you decide to cancel your insurance policy during this period, your insurer may make a proportionate charge for the time your insurance has been in force, and a proportionate charge may also be made for any add-on policies you may have taken. In addition, we will retain a charge up to £15 for the set up of the policy. As long as you have not made any insurance claims, any other money you may have paid us will then be refunded. If you wish to exercise your right to withdraw from your insurance policy you should advise us of this by calling us on 0845 345 6679 or by writing to us at: Cover Direct, Freepost MID26302, Stoke on Trent, ST4 4WW. You must return with this letter any Cover Note or Certificate of Insurance we have sent to you.
If you need to cancel your car insurance policy, please call us for further information on 0845 345 6679. Our lines are open 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm on Saturdays and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
In the event that your policy is cancelled after the 14 day cooling off period but prior to renewal we will apply a non-refundable fee to recover commission lost by the policy cancellation. Please see our Terms of Business Agreement for details on our charges. If no refund is given by your insurer due to the period of insurance that has been provided or in the event of a claim being made, no additional lost commission fee will be payable.
The cost of any add-on products (for example, Legal Expenses) you may have purchased will be non-refundable after the cooling off period.
In the event that your policy is cancelled and there are unpaid monies, we may withhold documents, for example any confirmation of no claims bonus to which you may be entitled, until full payment is made. Any discount we may previously have given you may also be reversed.
