• Don’t use your best china; you don’t want to be clearing it up from your kitchen floor the next day!
• Use throws on your furniture to make sure no spillages ruin your sofa etc
• Under the new Noise Act, the making of excessive noise between 11pm and 7am means you will be legally responsible, a warning may result in a fixed penalty and also the confiscation of any noise-making equipment. So to avoid a visit from the police it may be a good idea to warn your neighbours or even invite them
• Make sure you have up-to-date home insurance cover and adequate contents insurance cover.
